THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) issued a show-cause order (SCO) against a motorcycle rider after a video of him performing dangerous stunts on the road went viral, and the Facebook post also caught him using an illegally modified muffler.

LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said on Friday that he ordered a 90-day suspension of the rider’s driver’s license and demanded that the rider appear at the agency on Oct. 14 to explain his side.

Lacanilao said he immediately acted on the agency’s received video, which shows the rider repeatedly revving the engine of his motorcycle fitted with an illegally modified muffler while traveling on the road.

According to the LTO head, the violations cited in the SCO include illegal muffler modification, reckless driving, and improper person to operate a motor vehicle. Additional liabilities may also be determined as the investigation proceeds.

“The road is not a place for activities that may disturb or endanger other motorists. Every rider must exercise discipline and ensure that their motorcycle complies with prescribed standards. We must not disregard violations that may affect safety and order on the road,” Lacanilao said.

The LTO reminds all motorists and riders to practice discipline and responsibility in every trip. Compliance with regulations and responsible vehicle use are vital to maintaining safety and order on the road, it added.
