England have just received good news regarding their squad as right-back Reece James is set to return from a hamstring injury.
The 26-year-old star was absent from the two thrilling victories against the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mexico. Coach Thomas Tuchel is facing a dilemma on the right flank, as his replacement, Jarell Quansah, has just been sent off.
Quansah's suspension further exacerbates the personnel crisis in the defense, especially after Tino Livramento withdrew before the World Cup and was replaced by Trevoh Chalobah.
However, Chalobah has yet to be used by coach Tuchel. In the historic victory against Mexico, the German strategist had to rely on the trio of John Stones, Dan Burn, and Djed Spence to preserve the lead.
That victory secured England's place in the quarter-finals, where they will face Erling Haaland 's Norway this weekend.
The good news is that Reece James – a player with a history of persistent injuries and who was sidelined for nearly two months with a hamstring problem at the end of last season – is now almost fully fit.
According to The Telegraph, the Chelsea defender has a chance to return amid England's crisis at right-back.
The Chelsea captain started England's first two World Cup matches, but did not participate in training sessions ahead of the clash with Mexico.
The source said James hopes to be back in training in time for the match against Norway to prove he is fit enough to play.
