When coach Carlo Ancelotti announced Weverton as the next goalkeeper for the Brazilian national team to participate in the 2026 World Cup (May 19), the 38-year-old goalkeeper immediately celebrated and then fainted from joy.
Meanwhile, his relatives erupted in joy, embracing each other and running around the room. In the midst of this chaos, Weverton initially jumped to his feet in excitement. But then he suddenly collapsed onto the sofa, his head hitting the floor, and lay motionless.
What caused a stir online was that for almost a minute afterward, nearly no one in the room realized the critical condition of the 38-year-old goalkeeper.
His family and friends continued to cheer and dance wildly around him. It took a while before Weverton could sit up, still dazed. And that's when some family members began to notice something unusual about their hero.
Speaking at a press conference on May 20th, Weverton admitted that he was actually stunned and fainted for a few seconds due to overwhelming emotion.

He himself didn't know exactly what happened at that moment. However, he felt incredibly lucky that his older brother, in his excessive celebration, hadn't stepped on his head; otherwise, the joy could have turned into a tragedy.
The goalkeeper also humorously explained that his family has a tradition of being very affectionate and passionate. Therefore, the "chaotic" reaction shown in the video is completely normal.
For football fans in Brazil, Weverton is not an unfamiliar name, as he won the 2016 Olympic gold medal with Brazil and participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Although he was only the third-choice goalkeeper for coach Ancelotti, behind his teammates Alisson and Ederson, the ticket to North America at the age of 38 was still an invaluable reward, a testament to the incredible resilience of this goalkeeper born in 1988.
