Since 2023, Apple has implemented an 80% charge limit for new iPhone models to extend the device's battery life. Charging to 80% instead of 100% is supposed to reduce stress on the battery, thereby improving durability, but what are the actual results?
A test conducted by MacRumors with the iPhone 17 Pro Max over 12 months, with a maximum charge level of 80%, showed that the remaining battery capacity reached 97% after 277 charging cycles. The tester tried to keep the battery level below 20% and prioritized charging via USB-C over wireless charging.
